The art of hand soldering has been a long-standing tradition, dating back thousands of years. It wasn't until 1941, however, that a transformer-based instant heating soldering method was developed by an impatient American radio repairman, tired of waiting for his soldering gun to heat up. This repairman was Carl E. Weller, who had to wait until after World War II ended in 1945 to get his Weller Manufacturing Company up and running.

In 1960, Weller's company in the US patented the "Magnastat" soldering iron, which utilized a magnetic component to regulate the temperature at the iron's tip. Expanding overseas in 1959, the Weller GmbH plant in Besigheim, Germany, along with new facilities in other countries, was established to manufacture temperature-controlled irons and soldering guns primarily for industrial markets throughout Europe and the Near East.

Keeping pace with the increasing complexity of their customers' needs, Weller Germany became the market leader in developing and manufacturing hand soldering products worldwide. Their products were proudly emblazoned with the "Made in Germany" label, signifying innovation and reliability.

The Weller SP120 120 Watt Soldering Iron is a heavy-duty model designed for home workshops, repairs, stained glass, and hobby work. As a leading manufacturer of high-quality tools, Weller's products are made to withstand even the most demanding jobs. The company has gained international renown for its diverse range of products, all of which have been designed with the requirements of the professional in mind. Trusted, designed, and used by experts, Weller's tools have become a staple in workshops and homes around the globe.
